My laboratory studies the cellular and molecular mechanisms of brain injury in inflammatory and inflammation-associated disorders of the central nervous system. For this purpose, we focus on (1) vascular triggers leading to the invasion of pathogenic lymphocytes into the normal and inflamed brain, (2) regulation of inflammatory and anti-inflammatory processes at the level of cell surface molecules, and (3) cellular mechanisms regulating injury or survival/regeneration of neurons in areas affected by inflammation.
Lab Rotation Projects:
Expression and function of lymphocyte recruitment signals at the blood-CNS barrier.
