Department of Immunology
Immunology is the science of the study of the immune system. The immune system has evolved to combat infections and maintain the barrier between the outside world and our bodies. However, the immune system affects nearly every organ and is involved in many diseases including asthma, atherosclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis and inflammatory bowel disease. By harnessing the immune system we can enhance vaccination, combat cancer and control autoimmunity.
